Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Tay Ho District People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the Spring Giap Thin 2024 Festival of peach blossoms, kumquats and OCOP products on the evening of January 26, this is part of the program "Connecting potential - Adding value - Sustainable development" of traditional craft village values.

Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development gave the opening speech of the festival

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai said: With a thousand-year history of civilization, Hanoi has 5,922 historical relics; 1,793 intangible cultural heritages; 1,350 craft villages and vocational villages. This is great potential for Hanoi to exploit and develop tourism. In 2023, the city will welcome 24.72 million tourists, an increase of 30.2% compared to 2022 (11.7% compared to plan).

“To maintain the elegant intangible cultural value of spring travel and enjoying peach blossoms and kumquats for the people of the Capital as well as domestic and international tourists, the preservation and maintenance of peach blossom growing and Ornamental kumquat is an important job, of great interest to Hanoi city leaders. This is an indispensable cultural feature to connect with cultural, historical, spiritual, craft village tourism chains and experiences of tourists and residents of the Capital..." Dai said.

Awarded certificates of merit to artisans

In 2024, for the first time, Hanoi organizes the Festival of Peach Blossoms, Kumquats and OCOP products of the Xuan Giap Thin regions. The Organizing Committee opened two peach blossom and kumquat contests in Tay Ho district, to honor talented artisans and workers... After selection, the Organizing Committee chose 55 peach blossom works ( of 28 authors) and 68 kumquat works (of 31 authors) to honor 2 first prize works, 4 second prize works, 10 third prize works and 20 consolation prize works.

Traditional cultural performance at the festival

Besides honoring artisans and traditional craft villages of peach and kumquat flowers, Hanoi also has thousands of OCOP products in the largest quantity in the country. Hanoi has chosen Tay Ho as an important and indispensable destination for trade promotion of OCOP products and regional specialties.

With 100 booths promoting OCOP products and regional specialties, the festival is an opportunity for OCOP entities in Hanoi and localities to exchange experiences in producing and consuming products, and find potential customers. power; Affirming the OCOP brand with capital consumers, promoting the export of OCOP products...

Within the framework of the festival, there are many activities to attract visitors such as: Displaying a unique collection of ornamental art; Learning about ancestral worship customs, the art of arranging altar items, arranging five-fruit trays, and traditional Tet feasts of Vietnamese people; Experience folk games, enjoy playing with ornamental flowers and plants, traditional musical instruments, enjoy tea, start writing at the beginning of spring and special art programs "Celebrate the Party, celebrate Spring, celebrate the country's innovation".

Participating in the festival, Tay Ho district brought more than 100 peach blossom trees from Nhat Tan ward and Phu Thuong ward; more than 50 ornamental kumquat trees in Tu Lien; Displaying sticky rice from Phu Thuong traditional craft village. Visitors can enjoy and experience the Tet atmosphere such as wrapping banh chung, pounding sausage...

The festival of peach blossoms, kumquats and OCOP products of the Giap Thin 2024 regions will take place for 7 days, from January 26, 2024 to February 1, 2024 at the Cultural and Creative Space of Tay Ho district, Hanoi.
